Demolition and Refurbishment Surveys
Keeping you safe from asbestos during demolitions and refurbishments
Service Description
If a demolition or refurbishment is planned, whether big or small, an Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Survey is required to locate any asbestos-containing materials which may be hidden throughout the premises to keep everybody safe during the proposed works. This is legal requirement under the New Zealand Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016. The purpose of this survey is to locate the presence, condition, type, use and extent of any asbestos containing materials (ACMs) within the proposed refurbishment/demolition areas. It is intrusive in nature and may penetrate part of the building including lifting carpets and tiles, breaking through walls, ceilings, cladding and partitions and opening up floors. A management survey cannot be substituted for a demolition/refurbishment survey. AirSafe ensures that demolition/refurbishment surveys are carried out in accordance with the New Zealand Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 and the WorkSafe NZ Good Practice Guideline: Conducting Asbestos Surveys (2016). Clients will be provided with a detailed survey report once lab results are received. All samples are analysed by an IANZ accredited laboratory.
